COLLECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
Personal Information is information about you that identifies you as an individual, for example, your name, address, e-mail address, or telephone number.
We collect information that you voluntarily provide to us through responses to surveys, search functions, questionnaires, feedback, and the like. On some of our Sites, we offer financial assessment tools that ask you to provide self-assessment information. We may also ask you to provide additional information such as your e-mail address if you want to obtain additional services, information, participate in a contest or to resolve complaints or concerns.
HOW DOES THE COMPANY USE INFORMATION GATHERED ABOUT ONLINE VISITORS?

Please note that any of these disclosures may involve the storage or processing of personal information outside of Canada and may therefore be subject to different privacy laws than those applicable in Canada, including laws that require the disclosure of personal information to governmental authorities under circumstances that are different than those that apply in Canada.

ADC Finance, in common with many web site operators, may use standard technology called “cookies” on its Sites. Cookies are small data files that are downloaded onto your computer when you visit a particular web site. PROTECTION OF CHILDREN ONLINE
ADC Finance considers the protection of children’s privacy, especially online, to be of the utmost importance. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children nor do we allow them to become registered users of, or to request information through, our Sites or help-seeking information lines.
ADDITIONAL TERMS FOR CERTAIN WEBSITES
The following additional information applies to our Sites that require registration. Generally, you are not required to provide personal information as a condition of using our Sites, except as may be necessary to provide you with a product or service that you have requested. However, some of our Sites are restricted to certain individuals such as health care professionals or our prescription drug patients and we may require these individuals to register upon entry by providing us with certain information.

We have put in place physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and help prevent unauthorized access, maintain data security, and correctly use the information we collect online. ADC Finance applies security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, such as retaining information in secure facilities and making personal information accessible only to authorized employees on a need-to-know basis.
Storage of Information:
Personal information you share with us is stored on our database servers at Company data centers (in whatever country they may be located), or hosted by third parties who have entered into agreements with us that require them to observe our Privacy Policy.
FAIR INFORMATION PRACTICES
The PIPED ACT reflects the realities of the business world. It’s based on the Canadian Standards Association’s Model Code for the Protection of Personal Information, which is incorporated into the legislation. The Code lists 10 principles of fair information practices that are summarized as ADC Finance policies.
Accountability. ADC Finance: appointed a Chief Privacy Officer responsible for our organization’s compliance to protect all personal information held by our organization or transferred to a third party for processing; and developed and implemented personal information policies and practices.
Identifying purposes. Our organization will: identify the reasons for collecting personal information before or at the time of collection; advise before or when any personal information is collected, identify why it is needed and how it will be used; document why the information is collected; inform the client from whom the information is collected why it is needed; identify any new purpose for the information and obtain the client’s consent before using it.
Consent. ADC Finance must inform the individual in a meaningful way of the purposes for the collection, use or disclosure of personal data and obtain the individual’s consent before or at the time of collection, as well as when a new use is identified.
Limiting collection. Our organization does not collect personal information indiscriminately. We will not deceive or mislead individuals about the reasons for collecting personal information.
Limiting use, disclosure, and retention. ADC Finance must: use or disclose personal information only for the purpose for which it was collected, unless the individual consents, or the use or disclosure is authorized by the Act; keep personal information only as long as necessary to satisfy the purposes; keep personal information used to make a decision about a person for a reasonable time period. We have guidelines and procedures in place for retaining and destroying personal information. This will allow the person to obtain the information after the decision and pursue redress and destroy, erase or render anonymous information that is no longer required for an identified purpose or a legal requirement.
Accuracy. Our organization must minimize the possibility of using incorrect information when making a decision about the individual or when disclosing information to third parties.
Safeguards. Our policies will: protect personal information against loss or theft; safeguard the information from unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification; protect personal information regardless of the format in which it is held.
Openness. ADC Finance will inform our clients and employees that we have policies and practices for the management of personal information and make these policies and practices understandable and easily available.
Individual access. When requested in writing, ADC Finance will: inform individuals, within 30 days, if we have any personal information about them; explain how it is or has been used and provide a list of any organizations to which it has been disclosed; give individuals access to their information; correct or amend any personal information if its accuracy and completeness is challenged and found to be deficient; provide a copy of the information requested, or reasons for not providing access, subject to exception set out in Section 9 of the Act. ADC Finance will note any disagreement on the file and advise third parties where appropriate.
Provide recourse. ADC Finance has simple and easily accessible complaint procedures that inform complainants the avenues of recourse. These include ADC Finance complaint procedures, those of industry associations, regulatory bodies and the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. Our organization will investigate all complaints received and take appropriate measures to correct information handling practices and policies. Complaints should be sent to:

Individuals who feel their privacy rights have been infringed upon can complain to the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. The Commissioner’s role is that of an ombudsman, trying to find solutions to privacy problems, resolving complaints through negotiation and persuasion, and using mediation and conciliation if appropriate.
WHAT IS PERSONAL INFORMATION?
Personal information includes any factual or subjective information, recorded or not, about an identifiable individual. This includes information in any form, such as:
Age, name, ID numbers, income, ethnic origin, or blood type;
Opinions, evaluations, comments, social status, or disciplinary actions; and
Employee files, credit records, loan records, medical records, existence of a dispute between a consumer and a merchant, intentions (for example, to acquire goods or services, or change jobs).
Personal information does not include the name, title, business address or telephone number of an employee of an organization.
WHAT IS NOT COVERED BY THE ACT?
The collection, use or disclosure of personal information by federal government organizations listed under the Privacy Act
Provincial or territorial governments and agents of the crown in right of a province
An employee’s name, title, business address or telephone number
An individual’s collection, use or disclosure of personal information strictly for personal purposes (e.g. personal greeting card list)
An organization’s collection, use or disclosure of personal information solely for journalistic, artistic or literary purposes.
POLICY CHANGE:
If we alter our Privacy Policy, any changes will be posted on this page of our Site so that you are always informed of the information we collect about you, how we use it and the circumstances under which we may disclose it.
